I have taken my cats to this practice for years. I am SO glad that I was referred to them. Dr. Cuellar is the best. He treats me and my cats with respect. He explains everything to me and always has time to answer my questions. I never feel like they are trying to "jack up the bill". I always feel like they are looking out for my cats' best interests.

I've been very happy with Dr. Cuellar. My Doberman Lily will be three in May. Being a high-energy dog, I find myself at the vet's office more than I would have dreamed. In her young life, my Lily has broken two toes.

The first toe was treated at a clinic by the side of the road in Calabasas. The problems with that poor toe and the constant wrapping and rewrapping cost me nearly $5,000. It wasn't just the money. Lily nearly lost her entire foot because of the infection she got from the splint even though I had those darn wraps changed just about every other day. The vet there thought that Lily was "badly bred" because my five-month-old puppy wouldn't keep what turned out to be a very painful splint on, and I'd had to keep my puppy drugged enough to keep still for a good seven weeks. Never again!

For the second broken toe, I went to Southern California Veterinary Hospital, where Dr. Cuellar took an entirely different, far less invasive, and hugely less expensive approach. He was kind, gentle, and completely understood how to best deal with Lily.

More recently, our cat knocked over a (closed) bottle of compounded Armour thyroid, and the dog (Lily) retreived and ate the contents, later bringing me the empty bottle for inspection.

I furreaked out and called So. Cal. Vet. Hosp., and they had me come right in. I immediately rushed over there with my "little darling" and the empty bottle, prepared for a stomach pumping or goodness knows exactly what horrors. Dr. Cuellar took the bottle and before coming in to see Lily and me, he phoned my compounding pharmacy to find out exactly what was in the capsules...and then came back and told me not to worry about Lily, that she'd be perfectly fine. I don't know about you, but that's exactly the kind of presence of mind I want in my vet!

I really think they're pretty terrific. If you're not happy with the vet you're using now, you might consider giving them a try.

I think this practice is one of the best around. In particular, Dr. Cuellar is a great vet, no nonsense yet kind, probably the best diagnostician in town (I've had some unlucky cats with hard-to-diagnose conditions). This practice has convenient hours and prices that are neither the lowest nor the highest in town. Veterinary services can get really expensive, and Dr. Cuellar has worked with me over the years to ensure that my pets get the tests/vaccinations they need, without going crazy with every test in the book. It looks like he does tons of rescue group work, which is nice to know. I really do believe he is one of the best vets in the city, and while he can't work miracles, he has the knowledge and experience to give your cat the best possible outcome. His front office staff if really nice, too, which helps, especially if you're already upset about a sick pet. I highly recommend this place. In this case, you really do get what you pay for.

My dog got stung by a bee recently and we took her here. They took her in the back, and then a few minutes, came to tell us that she didn't appear to be very allergic (was not having a bad reaction). They gave her a mild antihistamine, and said they wanted to just watch for ten more minutes to make sure she wasn't having any reaction, then they actually brought her to us so that she could wait the ten minutes on our lap. I very much appreciated that they let us hold her, instead of keeping her in a cage alone in the back. The tech and the doctor (can't remember her name), were both very kind, patient, and willing to answer all our questions. THANKS!

I had to take my dog in on a Thursday morning for an emergency and the 2 girls up front were sooo sweet and caring. I was put into a room right away to have some privacy since I was very upset and they offered me water while I waited for Dr. Cuellar to come in and speak with me. It was the best Veterinary visit I've ever had. Dr. Cuellar was very compasionate when he entered the room to give me the status of my baby and made me feel like this was the best care I could receive for my pets. I was given a treatment plan fairly quick and my dogs life was saved and I've been going there ever since and highly recommend them to all my friends and family and sometimes just to random people I see walking their dogs. I really enjoy talking to the Thursday morning receptionist, they are the most caring staff and you know that when you walk in their you will see smiles and be greeted by your name every time.

I am very grateful to Dr. Rigoni for the years of care for my cat Lu. He performed a successful surgery on her 5 - 6 years ago. I moved out of the area, or I would definitely not have brought her anywhere else (and for a while I even made the journey back there).Dr. Rigoni is very qualified, caring and considerate of my pet and of me. He also always helped me make informed decisions on treatment vs. cost, and the fees were more than reasonable. I don't know the other Dr.s at So Cal Vet Hosp, but I give Dr. Rigoni 5 stars!

I've had trouble with a vet in the past but have been going to So Cal Vet Hospital for 1.5 years now and have not had any problems. I've had cats fixed and went in for a cat's broken elbow and the cats always came back in great condition.

I've had the most interaction with Dr. Cuellar and definitely recommend him. I have also dealt with Dr. Kelly on a couple occassions and she seemed competent as well.

This vet is also open late during the week and on weekends!

Last week my Yellow lab Baby (13 years old) had a bloat and I went to Dr. Cuellar he recommended I get the surgery as a bloat is often fatal is not treated. So they did the surgery. Baby stayed for hospitalization for a day after, before the surgery I thought Baby would not make it. But, this hospital saved her and I am very thankful. She is still recovering but slowly getting better.

Absolutely wonderful! We just moved from out of state and decided to add a new addition to the family. After going to two vets with horrible service, we heard about this hospital. We were able to make an appointment the same day and the doctor we had was amazing. The hospital was clean, staff was EXTREMELY helpful with our list of a million questions and our new puppy has a great bill of health. I recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone!

I brought my cat to Dr Cuellar on a recommendation after my cat had suffered torn knee ligaments in the hands of another vet performing an ultrasound. I was impressed by the clean, quiet facilities and the careful manner in which Dr Cuellar and his techs handled my traumatized cat. Dr Cuellar examined him, heard the story, and reviewed the records. He was very candid and told me I needed to see an orthopedic surgeon right away. He recommended one right down the street, and refused to charge me for the visit. Dr Cuellar's advice and recommendation were both very helpful, and I appreciated his kindness most of all.

I brought a homeless cat to So Cal Vet Hospital who had had some questionable treatment at another vet in LA. A had friend recommended Dr. Cuellar. Not only was Dr. Cuellar completely thorough in his assessment and testing of this cat, the guidance he gave me got me a refund at the other vet. He is knowledgeable and caring -- even though this cat is now at a shelter and does not have high hopes for adoption, Dr. Cuellar has been his advocate and has followed his treatment and follow ups carefully. I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic. I have lived in LA for over 10 years and have been to several vets with my animals; rarely have I found the care and consideration I was given at So Cal.

If you want the best veterinary care in the Valley for your animals, you will get it here. From the vets to the techs and the front office staff, you and your pet will get the highest quality treatment. I have been rescuing animals for 15 years and I do not trust any other veterinary hospital in the Valley, or Los Angeles for that matter, with my animals. I am so lucky and grateful that I live so close to them! They have saved so many of my animals!

I have been doing dog and cat rescue for years and have brought hundreds of animals to vets all over the city & county. I would consider myself a fairly sophisticated consumer of veterinary services. When it comes to my personal pets, I bring them all to SoCal. It's a bit of a schlep for me (I live in West LA) but it is well worth it to get the kind of care & professionalism that you just don't see often enough at vets' offices. The doctors are extremely knowledgeable and quite thorough, and the staff - both the front desk and the technicians - are top notch, which really makes a huge difference. The prices aren't on the cheaper end of things, but with vets you do usually get what you pay for, and since I care about my animals I want them to get the gold standard of care. I have recommended SoCal to a good many friends & family members and they too are extremely happy with the service and quality of care they receive.

After a very horrible experience with a hospital down the street, I came to this hospital on a whim. I have been going to this hospital for years now and am always pleased. There hours are very flexible and after seeing both the doctors there, I find that they are both very caring and knowledgeable about veterinary medicine. The staff is personable and quite helpful with even the smallest request. It is not an inexpensive hospital, however, but I am a strong believer that you get what you pay for. And you certainly do! It's unfortunate for the bad reviews, but that inspired me to write a good one. Unfortunately, most reviews are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

I HIGHLY recommend this hospital if you want caring service for your dog or cat. I wish I could explain how much the staff (both the receptionists and the vets) care about you and your pet. Lovely place.

My pets have been clients here since 2003 and I've referred many other pet owners as well. The staff at SoCal Vet Hospital will love your pet as you do. I feel like family when I visit with my pug for his baths, occasional boarding, and even vaccinations and check-ups. The prices for general services are very affordable and the fact that they are open 7 days a week means that there is less of a chance that you will have to go to an emergency veterinarian should your pet become ill on a Sunday. The veterinarians and staff deserve the five stars and you will feel like a ten-star client when you bring your pet to Southern California Veterinary Hospital!
